Evolution of Medicine is thrilled to announce the September Functional Forum will come from the 9th Annual "Integrative Medicine for the Underserved" Conference for the first time. The Functional Forum has always been about community, and with our 2019 focus on group visits, we are thrilled to spread the word on strategies to bring a lifestyle-focused, root-cause approach to the people most in need.
Featured in this episode will be leaders in the group visit movement like Dr. Jeffrey Geller, who has been teaching his Empowerment Model for group medical visits for more than a decade.
Also featured will be Marena Burnett, with the Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI), the nonprofit organization that developed and supports the CenteringPregnancy, CenteringParenting and CenteringHealthcare models of group care. CenteringPregnancy has led to significant reduction in infant mortality, especially in areas with abnormally high levels.
We will hear from Dr. Paula Gardiner, the doctor leading the science of group visits, and John Weeks, the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, which exclusively focused on group visits this month. The Forum will also share a range of additional interviews and one-minute tips from this powerful community.
We hope this Forum will lead to robust local conversation on how our practitioner community can kickstart efforts to deliver integrative and functional medicine to communities that currently have little or no access.
